Our client is seeking a Family Wealth Advisor with an independent private wealth and investment management firm in Oakville, Ontario.

This role is well suited to a client-focused financial services professional who enjoys relationship management, financial planning conversations, business development, and working within a collaborative private wealth environment.

The Family Wealth Advisor is accountable for the overall client relationship, including ongoing advice, planning, client engagement, and regulatory responsibilities. The advisor will work within a team-based structure where portfolio implementation, trading oversight, performance reporting, and day-to-day account administration are supported by dedicated portfolio management and operations teams.

This support model allows the Family Wealth Advisor to focus more time on client-facing activities, relationship development, business growth, and strategic wealth planning.

About the Role

The Family Wealth Advisor will act as a primary relationship manager for clients and prospective clients, helping to understand client needs, support planning objectives, deepen relationships, and contribute to the growth of the practice.

The successful candidate should be highly client-centric, professional, organized, and comfortable managing priorities in a collaborative team environment. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, professional discretion, follow-through, and comfort working in a regulated financial services setting.

The right person will be comfortable engaging clients and prospects, building relationships, generating appointments, cultivating referrals, and contributing to asset growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities —

Client Relationship Management

  • Develop strong, trust-based relationships with clients

  • Develop and implement relationship management plans tailored to client needs

  • Review client portfolios and understand each client’s financial goals, needs, risk tolerance, and long-term objectives

  • Maintain consistent communication, follow up on action items, and provide timely updates to clients

  • Complete and review financial plans to help ensure clients remain aligned with their agreed roadmap

  • Adjust plans and recommendations as client needs, goals, and circumstances evolve

  • Work collaboratively with portfolio management, administrative, operations, and leadership teams

  • Support a consistent client experience by following the firm’s established advisory and service processes

Business Development and Client Engagement

  • Proactively engage new and existing clients through needs-based conversations

  • Identify opportunities to deepen existing client relationships and support future growth

  • Implement business development strategies to acquire new clients

  • Conduct outreach, appointment generation, and referral-building activities

  • Build relationships within the community and professional networks

  • Identify opportunities during client conversations to support broader financial needs, including referral opportunities where appropriate

  • Contribute to asset growth and overall business development objectives

Advisory and Regulatory Responsibilities

  • Support ongoing client advice and planning conversations

  • Ensure client information, documentation, and recommendations are handled in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements

  • Maintain accurate records of client conversations, follow-up items, and relationship management activity

  • Apply appropriate knowledge of AML, client documentation, suitability, and compliance expectations

  • Stay current on relevant industry developments, regulatory expectations, and professional development requirements

Experience and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will bring relevant experience in financial services, wealth management, investment management, banking, insurance, financial planning, or advisory business development.

Candidates should bring:

  • At least 2 years of qualified industry experience in financial services, wealth management, investment management, banking, insurance, planning, or a related advisory environment

  • Experience supporting or managing client relationships in a financial services setting

  • Comfort with business development, client outreach, appointment generation, and referral-building activity

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with clients and colleagues

  • Professional discretion and comfort working with sensitive client information

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage follow-up, client priorities, and business development activity

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and financial services or portfolio/accounting software

  • Knowledge and application of AML procedures would be considered an asset

  • Current Chartered Investment Manager designation, CFA Level 1, or willingness to obtain one of these qualifications

  • Current registration as an Associate Advising Representative or Advising Representative would be considered an asset

  • Additional financial services, planning, investment management, or related industry education would be considered an asset

  • Post-secondary education in business, finance, economics, or a related field would be considered an asset

  • Collaborative approach and comfort working both independently and as part of a team

  • Quick learner with an interest in continued professional growth
